A first look at the Aln Valley Miniature Railway

The Aln Valley Miniature Railway Update (1)

This exciting project, in collaboration with Aln Valley, is quickly taking shape.

Today we laid the panels down in order to better understand the alignment of the track in relation to the recently dug starting channel. As you can see it’s already looking great.

We are moving really quickly with the project in order to open for Easter 2022, despite the fact the railway will only be 250ft to begin with - the potential for continual growth is exciting!

The ballast has been brought onto the site of the miniature railway. We'll be using road plainings which will offer a suitable surface for the miniature railway to run, in addition to adequate drainage.

See the post below from the new Aln Valley Miniature Railway page (recently re-activated page which was once used for the now defunct Beamish Cog Railway).

The laying of the trackbed is a major step in the construction of the new miniature railway.

Additionally, work commenced on the train station (its name will be announced soon). This included the digging of foundations - which is a lot of hard work! The Aln Valley volunteers who are helping with this project have been amazing and have progressed the miniature railway at an incredible speed!

Thanks very much for reading and I'll see you in next post for more updates on the railway!
